People in the Friuli part of FVG have been urged to avoid travel and stay at home, with storm expected to bring severe flooding and disruption on Thursday, 2 November.
The Friuli part of the region is placed in ‘code red’ criticality which indicates the highest alarm level. The president of FVG, Massimiliano Fedriga, closed schools in Gorizia and Isontino part of the region and urged people to travel as little as possible.
The red warning states there is “danger to life from fast flowing or deep floodwater” in Friuli with extensive flooding and road closures also expected, as well as warning of wind gusts in excess of 113km/h affecting coastal areas.
Trieste has been place under ‘code yellow’ which indicates medium-high criticality with high tide and rain expected throughout Thursday, 2 November.
