The Verdi theater season opens with Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” in a production by Guy Monavon on Wednesday, 8 November.
The opening night was moved from 2 to 8 November due to the national strike this Thursday.
Gianna Fratta conducts a cast that includes Lana Kos and Alessandra di Giorgio, Roberto Aronica, and Murat Karahan. Fernando Cisneros and Matteo Peirone also star.
Manon Lescaut is a dramatic and musical triumph and was Puccini’s first great success. Based on a controversial book by Abbé Provost, Manon Lescaut is a devastating depiction of a woman wrestling with her desire for love on her own terms, and the rigid double standards imposed on her by society.
The dates of the opera are 8 November at 8 pm, 9 and 10 November at 4 pm, 17 November and 8 pm, 29 November at 7 pm, 30 November at 4 pm.
Tickets can be purchased at the Verdi’s box office or directly on the website.
