An exceptional storm hit the Barcola seafront in #Trieste during the day, causing extensive damage this Friday afternoon 3 November resulting in the emergency road closure from via Bovedo to the Miramare Castle until Saturday, 4 November.
The pine forest and the park equipped for children ended up under water, while several cobblestones along the promenade were uprooted by exceptionally strong waves.
The symbolic statue of the Trieste seafront, the ‘Mula de Barcola’, was uprooted and subsequently anchored and secured with a rope. Damage also occurred to establishments and bars located on the seafront.
Viale Miramare has been closed to cars and pedestrians from via Bovedo to the Miramare castle until Saturday morning.
