The annual feast of San Martino takes off today, 4 November with events galore until 12 November, in the Prosecco part of town.

“San Martino is a celebration much loved by the area. It is the moment in which Prosecco celebrates its Patron Saint and it is an opportunity to strengthen social cohesion, also given the strong participation of citizens and economic operators who will animate this beautiful program of celebrations, which will start from November 4th and will continue until the following weekend with the market dedicated to the food supply chain of our area. It is a moment of celebration with the possibility of tasting the new wine and promoting the food excellence of the Karst”, said the deputy mayor and councilor for economic and productive activities Serena Tonel.

The opening day of Saturday 4 November with the excursions planned for adults and families, the trump tournaments, the concerts and the guided tastings of the Prosekar sparkling wine, as well as the “Martinova furenga” (Sunday 5 November at 2.30 pm), i.e. the transport of the new wine with the horse-drawn cart and the market exhibition (with a dozen of organizations present) will make for an unforgettable weekend.

As part of the presentation of the “Festa di San Martino”, the director of the Miramare Biosphere Reserve Maurizio Spoto announced that the Miramare Biosphere has received 500 thousand euro from the Ministry of the Environment, which will be allocated to the Municipality of Trieste, a favor of the energy efficiency of the school in Borgo San Nazario and for the reforestation of two parcels owned by the Municipality in the Monte Grisa area. Also from this perspective, there will be another 80 thousand euro for environmental education activities in favor of comprehensive institutes on the Karst plateau.
