The residents of the coastal town 20 minutes way from Trieste were literally submerged up to their knees as they woke up last week high tide alert. Various roads have been destroyed as the result of the weekend’s storm. Numerous boats and piers in the harbor have been havocked, the street to Lazzaretto vecchio remains closed.

“The damages are substantial,” commented regional councilor for tourism, Sergio Bini.
