Governor Massimiliano Fedriga opened the international event “Promote Innovation in Life Sciences – Friuli Venezia Giulia, The Place To Be” taking place this Wednesday and Thursday in Trieste’s Old Port.
“The development of life sciences fits perfectly the goals of the region,” said Fedriga, “a commitment that finds substance in the 45 million euro current expenditure invested over the three-year period to attract large companies in the sector and support the growth of start-ups. We are talking about a strategic sector for Friuli Venezia Giulia which we are strengthening in close synergy with the Science Cluster of Life, other public institutions, the prestigious scientific and research institutes in our territory and with important private companies”.
“We are creating the conditions – explained Fedriga – to make a leap in quality for our territory through virtuous contamination between research, innovation, higher education and public and private investments. Friuli Venezia Giulia wants to offer great opportunities to all the protagonists at on a global level of an increasingly relevant sector like that of life sciences”.
During his speech the governor also announced an important project. “In addition to the move to the new headquarters of the Region, we want to create a hub in Porto Vecchio dedicated specifically to start-ups dealing with life sciences and naval engineering, fundamental sectors for growth of Friuli Venezia Giulia”.
“The objective – added Fedriga – is to create a environment where scientists, researchers, students, entrepreneurs and citizens can use common spaces and meet in the everyday life. A citadel of innovation where they can have numerous opportunities for collaboration and growth”.
