A recent survey indicates that the American custom of Black Friday and Cyber Monday holds considerable appeal for both retailers and consumers in Italy.
According to the findings, an impressive four out of five Italians express interest in participating in this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales events. The survey, conducted by PwC and reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, estimates that Italian consumers will spend an average of €232 per person, marking a substantial 20% increase from last year’s average of €194.
Significantly, almost one-third of respondents plan to leverage the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales to acquire up to half of their Christmas gifts, underscoring a growing trend in Italy. The data suggests that the nation has widely embraced the American tradition of shopping for heavily discounted items the day after Thanksgiving.
Black Friday is slated for November 24th this year, followed by Cyber Monday three days later, dedicated to technology sector discounts.
Post-Christmas sales across all regions of Italy are scheduled to commence on January 5, 2024, with the exception of Sicily, where the sales kick off on January 2. While the winter sales generally span about six weeks, the duration varies across regions.
