Trieste witnessed the participation of hundreds of individuals in a procession organized by the ‘Non una di meno Trieste’ movement since his afternoon, Saturday, November 25, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

On Friday night, the Italian government illuminated the façade of its Rome headquarters with the 1522 helpline, marking the eve of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The helpline, operating 24 hours a day, is a vital resource providing free and anonymous support as a primary response to the urgent needs of victims of gender-based violence and stalking.

Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni emphasized the helpline’s significance, stating, “It is a number that you can call at any time if you are afraid, and you can find someone on the other end who can help you.” Meloni, standing outside Palazzo Chigi, was accompanied by Family Minister Eugenia Roccella and Sport Minister Andrea Abodi, along with prominent figures from the Italian sports world, including Paralympic fencing champion Bebe Vio.

Addressing the issue, Meloni stressed, “Those who are afraid should know that they are not alone.” She underscored the misconception that fear is normal, stating, “When you think that being afraid is normal, it is not. When you think that love hurts, it is not like that.” She concluded by asserting the importance of freedom, declaring, “We are free, and there is no one who can take that freedom away from us.”
