Ramin Karimloo and Earl Carpenter, following their triumphs in ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ and their recent concert in Trieste, are back at the Rossetti as educators. On December 2nd and 3rd, they conducted a free masterclass aimed at young musical performers where the best students from Italian schools and the local area were invited to partake in an invaluable training experience.

The international stars were captivated by the Trieste audience and the city’s beauty during the triumphant performances of ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ marking its Italian debut, and later returning in October for the ‘From the Rehearsal Room’ concert.

Hence, the decision to organize this study session at the Rossetti, which, with two masters of such caliber, becomes a rare and invaluable opportunity for young musical performers and their training.

This past weekend’s workshop was entirely free, with the best students from Italian musical schools being invited. Karimloo and Carpenter have established fundamental rules: first and foremost, the workshops are free to ensure accessibility for all interested individuals. The second essential point is that students could work in complete comfort. For this reason, mobile phones, videos, and photographs were not allowed during the working hours and spaces to maintain a private and distraction-free learning environment. Workshop content and discussions have to remain private and not be shared on social media or public platforms. The third rule was: no autographs, as the focus is solely on learning and growth, not individual promotion or seeking personal recognition.

According to Karimloo and Carpenter, in this way, the workshops aimed to facilitate a deeper and more meaningful connection among participants, promoting a space where individuals have the courage to express themselves fully and develop their expressive abilities.

On Monday, December 4th, the Teatro Stabile and the two instructors held a media event to share their experience and the results achieved.
