Prepare for changes in the Winter Experience starting December 10th as the Passenger Hub of the FS Group, which includes Trenitalia, Busitalia, Ferrovie del Sud Est, and the recently established Treni Turistici Italiani, unveils its revised travel package.
This comprehensive bundle is designed to facilitate connections to snow-covered destinations and mountain getaways. Expect a seamless blend of train, bus, and air travel options, accompanied by exclusive promotions for families and young travelers.
For long-distance travel through Friuli Venezia Giulia, expect the continued operation of all Intercity and Intercity Night connections to and from Rome. Frecciarossa services from Trieste and Udine to Rome and Milan, and back, are confirmed, with most making a stop at Trieste Airport. In addition, a new regional train catering exclusively to students will be introduced on December 10th, departing from Trieste at 6:45 AM and arriving in Portogruaro by 7:52 AM. All regional trains passing through will also make a stop at Trieste Airport.
The Passenger Hub is enhancing its interconnected service, allowing passengers to purchase tickets for trains, buses, ships, and parking through the user-friendly Trenitalia app with a single click, ensuring a smooth “door-to-door” travel experience. With 5 million passengers opting for this intermodal combo in the past year, the Hub’s strategy of seamlessly blending rail and road appears to be gaining traction. It promotes collective and shared mobility, allowing both tourists and commuters to explore the natural and artistic wonders of the two main Lucanian cities.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia, digital tickets have been in play since August, simplifying the entire travel experience. With this digital twist, passengers can make unlimited changes to their chosen train’s date and time until 11:59 PM the day before their journey. Changes are also allowed on the day of travel, adjusting departure or arrival times within the same day. Passengers can now validate their tickets through online check-in even before boarding. Online check-in is available from midnight on the day of travel until the train departs.
Promotions are in place for winter travel on Frecciarossa, offering a variety of discounts for different traveler profiles. With FrecciaDAYS, enjoy discounts of up to -70% for midweek travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Freccia2X1 allows travel in pairs at the price of one. FrecciaSENIOR offers tickets starting from 29 euros for travelers over 60. For those under 30, FrecciaYOUNG provides fares at 19 and 29 euros. Families can take advantage of FrecciaFAMILY, allowing kids under 15 to travel for free and adults to enjoy a 50% discount.
