The results of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s notable achievements throughout the year were unveiled at the year-end press conference held on Friday, December 22, under the leadership of Governor Massimiliano Fedriga. The region has witnessed substantial progress, including a threefold increase in foreign investments, significant GDP growth, and a remarkable influx of over 10 million tourists.
Governor Fedriga detailed the specific measures implemented across various sectors, placing particular emphasis on substantial investments in culture. Noteworthy initiatives include the promotion of Nova Gorica and Gorizia as the Capital of Culture 2025, supported by an additional investment of $14 million. Efforts to blend cultural outreach with attractiveness were underscored, along with the introduction of the Sport Bonus to encourage private support for regional sports.
Infrastructure investments exceeding $200 million, coupled with the extension of a 50% discount on local public transport subscriptions for students, align with the region’s ecological transition objectives. Governor Fedriga highlighted the environmental initiative supporting families in energy transition through the installation of photovoltaic panels and storage batteries, contributing to economic stability for over 13,400 families.
The governor emphasized a preference for long-term strategies over one-time contributions, facilitating cumulative contributions with national deductions and multi-year planning to avoid market speculations.
Productive activities received attention, with policies fortifying various sectors, including agriculture, to shield businesses from international tensions. Despite national contraction in the tourism sector, Friuli Venezia Giulia achieved a milestone with 10 million tourist visits.
Initiatives such as creating a new regional headquarters in the old port of Trieste and supporting healthcare, security, labor, and family sectors were discussed. The governor’s concluding remarks attributed these achievements to a well-administered regional system, resilient in the face of challenges and managed by competent individuals, demonstrating the region’s economic growth and stability.
