Successfully presented at the 73rd edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the French series produced by Canal+ will be available for the first time in Italy on the MYmovies ONE streaming platform.
Starting from December 22, the French sci-fi series UFOs – original title OVNI(s) – will make its debut on the MYmovies ONE platform. It is an original creation by Clémence Dargent and Martin Douaire, produced by Canal+ and enthusiastically received at the 73rd edition of the Cannes Film Festival, where it premiered worldwide.
The series is divided into two seasons of 12 episodes each, immersing viewers in a gripping and mysterious past. Through a surprising blend of science fiction and humor, it has achieved extraordinary television success in France and has been dubbed the “X-Files à la française” for the originality of its story and the exploration of new territories in European serial storytelling.
Set in the late ’70s in France, UFOs stars Didier Mathure, masterfully portrayed by Melvil Poupaud (known for Xavier Dolan’s Laurence Anyways and Woody Allen’s recent A Rainy Day in New York), a brilliant aerospace engineer whose destiny is disrupted when his rocket prototype explodes during a launch. Nevertheless, he is appointed head of an investigative office tasked with looking into UFO events, and, after initial skepticism and an unexpected incident, he transforms into a passionate believer in extraterrestrials.
Episode after episode, the series provides viewers with a surprising, intriguing, and humor-filled visual experience, featuring meticulously crafted cinematography and a soundtrack ranging from Vivaldi to contemporary music, enriched by the enveloping sounds of Thylacine, a leading band in the French electronic scene. A unique offering in the European television landscape, it is an unmissable opportunity for fans of French comedy and science fiction.
The second season of UFOs will premiere on MYmovies ONE in early 2024. The complete series will be available within the Sci-fi Club channel of the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival.
