In 2023, Ronchi dei Legionari Airport achieved a passenger count of 932,767, a notable 33.5% increase from the previous year. Despite early challenges related to the Omicron variant, the year demonstrated a consistent growth trend, with a 35% rise in passengers during the first eight months compared to 2022.

Looking ahead to 2024, the airport has ambitious plans, targeting 1.2 million passengers. CEO Marco Consalvo highlighted the success of strategic decisions made since mid-2022, praising the robust performance of Ryanair’s flights, especially those to Rome and Tirana, which exceeded expectations.

For the coming year, Ronchi Airport is set to introduce two new Ryanair connections to Seville and Brindisi in April. Additionally, the resumption of flights to Brussels and Cagliari is planned for late March and early April. However, challenges persist, particularly with the Ronchi-Monaco route, as Lufthansa faces delays in aircraft deliveries.

Consalvo emphasized the need for favorable market conditions, noting that airlines are yet to finalize summer schedules. He highlighted the current imbalance between ticket demand and supply due to issues in delivering new aircraft, a situation expected to persist for some time. Despite uncertainties, the airport remains optimistic about surpassing the psychological threshold of one million passengers in 2024.
