In a move geared towards fostering community engagement, the Trieste Municipality, under the Department of Territorial Planning, has decided to extend the deadline for citizens to contribute to the Barcola waterfront revitalization project until January 15, 2024.
Access to the municipality’s Participatory Questionnaire, available online, can be found at the following address: https://piattaforma-partecipativa.online.trieste.it.
In addition to the online questionnaire, residents can also engage in the initiative through a more traditional approach. The Municipality’s URP Mobile Unit will be present in various neighborhoods on the specified dates to distribute paper copies of the questionnaire:
- January 10, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at Piazza Cavana.
- January 15, from 10 AM to 12 PM, at the weekly market in Opicina, via Doberdò.
Both the online and paper questionnaires guarantee anonymity for participants.
The participatory platform stands as a tangible example of Active Citizenship. Informed citizens have the potential to provide significant input to the relevant authorities regarding deliberative and decision-making processes. The Trieste Municipality aims to promote democratic participation by enhancing models of participatory democracy, experimenting with new approaches to involve the public in administrative decisions.
Expressing satisfaction with the community’s involvement in the Trieste Municipality’s Participatory Platform, Territory Policy Commissioner Michele Babuder stated, “Due to the positive response, we have decided to extend the opportunity for citizens and stakeholders to share valuable insights and opinions with the administrations involved in the project. These inputs will be duly considered in the subsequent deliberative phases related to the project implementation.”
