In a captivating journey through time, the Sala Selva of Palazzo Gopcevich invites visitors to delve into the secrets of its rich history. On Wednesday, January 31st, at 5:30 PM, curator Claudia Colecchia will lead a complimentary guided tour of the exhibition “Behind the Scenes of Palazzo Gopcevich: Among the Treasures of the Civic Museums of History and Art Photographic Archive.”

The exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the lives of the palace’s owners and tenants, revealing the stories woven into its walls. From the visionaries like Pietro Opiglia, Adriano de Rota, Alfonso Mottola, Ugo Borsatti, and Gabriele Basilico, the exhibition traces the development of the region’s most comprehensive photographic archive, a visual testament to the city of Trieste and beyond.

Among the priceless artifacts on display are daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, ferrotypes, and an oval photokeramic portrait by renowned photographer Nadar capturing Baron Pasquale Revoltella. Precious albums and antique cameras line the showcases, showcasing the evolution of visual storytelling.

Mark your calendars for the series of accompanying events throughout the exhibition’s duration. A guided tour will also be available on Wednesday, February 7th, at 5:30 PM.

On Saturday, February 10th, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM, adults can partake in a workshop on ancient photographic techniques led by Andrea Buffalo. Meanwhile, Sunday, February 11th, from 10 AM to 1 PM, the workshop is exclusively dedicated to children aged 6 to 11.

Reservation for these free events is mandatory and can be made via email at cmsafototeca@comune.trieste.it.

The exhibition will be open to the public until April 7th, Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 AM to 5 PM (closed on Mondays), with free admission.
