Trieste’s “Tomaso di Savoia” Nautical Technical Institute kicks off its 270th anniversary celebrations in Piazza Unità. Mayor Roberto Dipiazza graced the event, alongside Council President Francesco Panteca, school principal Francesco Fazari, faculty, and roughly 400 students.

Mayor Dipiazza conveyed the city’s greetings, stating, “The municipal administration aims to promote one of Trieste’s most renowned and oldest schools, representing the city’s excellence.”

Captivating group photos were snapped, featuring students clad in matching attire: white shirts and black pants, hinting at the institute’s move towards introducing uniforms. Festivities will continue with various events until May 13, marking the founding anniversary in 1754 of Trieste’s Nautical School by Jesuit Father Francesco Saverio Orlando, under the directive of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.
