In a recent speech in Trieste, Alessia Rosolen, the regional official responsible for Labor, Education, Training, Research, University Affairs, and Family Matters, discussed ongoing challenges facing female employment, echoing similar issues confronting young workers.
Rosolen emphasized the Regional Administration’s longstanding commitment to enhancing job opportunities for women and those under 35 through targeted interventions. She stressed the need for comprehensive, cross-cutting strategies, acknowledging that no single policy or measure can fully address the complex issues at hand.
The remarks were made during an event titled “The State of Gender Parity in Friuli Venezia Giulia,” where Rosolen shared insights alongside a presentation by regional gender equality councilor Anna Limpido.
Rosolen noted a significant increase in resources allocated to parenthood support and female employment since 2018, utilizing both regional funds and the European Social Fund.
Key initiatives include incentives for stable hiring, work-life balance measures, active policy instruments, support for childcare, family endowments, corporate welfare measures, and the promotion of female entrepreneurship.
Despite progress, Rosolen highlighted ongoing challenges, including lower rates of permanent hires for youth and women and wage disparities. However, she noted positive trends, such as increased female labor force participation and employment rates in the region, surpassing the national average.
Rosolen announced plans for a new law on local welfare to enhance the region’s attractiveness, focusing on benefit corporations, gender parity certification, and territorial collective bargaining.
She emphasized the collective effort needed from regional stakeholders, social partners, employers, and individual companies to achieve genuine well-being and economic empowerment for all workers in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
