As the clock winds down, there’s a limited window to explore the “Space Spears: 60 Years of Festival and Sci-Fi in Trieste” exhibit, currently on display at the Bastione Fiorito halls in San Giusto Castle until Sunday, February 11. With a turnout of over 10,000 visitors already, enthusiasts have a final opportunity to immerse themselves in this homage to Trieste’s sci-fi legacy.
The exhibit commemorates the sixtieth anniversary of the International Science Fiction Film Festival of Trieste (1963-1982), the predecessor of today’s Trieste Science+Fiction Festival. Through vintage photographs, original movie posters, a cinematic sci-fi video gallery, stage costumes, memorabilia, and scientific artifacts, it traces the festival’s origins and the evolution of sci-fi cinema over a century.
Admission to the exhibit is included with entry to San Giusto Castle (full price: $6; reduced price: $4), available Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The exhibition concludes on Sunday, February 11, with a special event at 11 a.m.: the guided tour “Our Space Spears: Tales and History,” led by science journalist Fabio Pagan and film critic Paolo Lughi.
The exhibition is presented by the City of Trieste – Department of Cultural and Tourism Policies, in collaboration with La Cappella Underground, supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the CRTrieste Foundation, the Casali Foundations, and in partnership with Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste.
