The Rossetti Theater and TAM Arcimboldi Theater in Milan are pleased to announce the international tour of MAMMA MIA! Following its unprecedented global success, the production will make stops in Trieste from April 23 to 27, 2025, and in Milan from April 30 to May 11, 2025. This beloved musical comedy, inspired by twenty-two iconic hits from ABBA, promises to transform both the Rossetti and Arcimboldi theaters into a captivating Greek island, delivering an unforgettable experience for audiences.
MAMMA MIA! tells the timeless story of a mother, a daughter, and three possible fathers. Sophie Sheridan, on the brink of her wedding, embarks on a quest to uncover the identity of her real father by bringing together three significant men from her mother Donna’s past, all on the same Greek island where their lives intersected over 20 years ago. Against the backdrop of ABBA’s enduring classics, the tale unfolds in a compelling and entertaining manner.
Celebrating 25 years since its West End debut in 1999, MAMMA MIA! has enthralled over 65 million viewers worldwide with productions in 16 languages and performances in more than 450 major cities. It has become a global phenomenon at a pace unmatched by any other musical in history.
MAMMA MIA! the Movie, produced by Judy Craymer in 2008, set records as the highest-grossing live-action musical film upon its release. Its sequel, MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN (2018), continued the success as the most lucrative sequel to a musical film.
Featuring music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, MAMMA MIA! was written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production boasts set and costume design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical direction and arrangements by Martin Koch.
MAMMA MIA! is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East, and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in collaboration with Universal and NGM.
