In a gathering poised to ignite the hearts of sailing enthusiasts, the venerable Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, renowned across the globe for his seafaring prowess, is set to dock in Trieste. His presence promises to regale attendees with riveting narratives from the high seas, embodying the essence of maritime adventure.
Organized by Cristina Giussani, esteemed proprietor of the internationally acclaimed nautical bookstore Mare di Carta in Venice, in collaboration with the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, this event bears the endorsement of esteemed maritime institutions, including the Yacht Club Adriaco and the Società Triestina della Vela, under the auspices of the Municipality of Trieste.
Scheduled for Saturday, February 24th, at the storied Luttazzi Hall within Warehouse 26, the rendezvous will commence at 4:00 PM and extend until 6:30 PM. Guiding the discourse alongside Ms. Giussani will be Alessandro Mulas, Vice President of SVBG, adding his insights to the captivating dialogue.

Admission to the event is open to all, with simultaneous translation services available for seamless engagement. Preceding his appearance in Trieste, Sir Robin will grace the headquarters of the Compagnia della Vela in Venice on Friday, February 23rd, for an engaging discussion moderated by Ms. Giussani and Giuseppe Duca.

I am delighted to have recently found your publication relating to all things “Trieste”, having first visited this fascinating and beautiful city in 1952. I must add, that I was only two years old at the time and accompanied by my parents…..my father having secured a three week holiday in order to introduce my mother to his parents, up the hill beyond Roiano, in the village of Sottemonte (Pischianz). Needless to say, I have visited TS through out the decades and so have a deep love for the area.(I think Jan Morris with “Trieste and the Meaning of Nowhere” helped me to understand my passion)
