Launching on March 6, 2024, “MOVIEUNITS” kicks off, a roving cinematic showcase, free and open to all, offering the screening of twelve films at various locations in Trieste, with two special events also in Gorizia and Portogruaro.
The showcase, in collaboration with the University Departments and the Trieste Film House association, is made possible with contributions from the FVG Region and the Municipality of Trieste, in partnership with ERPAC FVG. The program is curated by Massimiliano Spanu, professor of Film History at the Department of Humanities at UniTS, and Daniele Terzoli.
The titles, inspired by UniTS Departments, offer reflections on contemporary themes: the climate crisis, artificial intelligence, robotics, the evolving world of work, memory and archives, cloning, genetic engineering, financial paradoxes, migratory phenomena, space challenges, dreams, and anxieties of new generations in the era of the Anthropocene. Following the classic cineforum format designed for active participation from students and the public, each screening will be introduced by a professor for a scientific perspective on the reality of the future.
