The Banfield Association has brought the celebration of Brain Awareness Week to the heart of Trieste with an innovative campaign that aims to elevate public consciousness about the complexities of brain science. Under the auspices of the Municipality of Trieste and with generous support from the Finney Foundation, the Association has erected a modular structure in the bustling Piazza della Borsa, transforming it into a hub of intellectual discourse and cognitive exploration.

Dubbed “The Brain Takes to the Square,” this ambitious initiative promises a week-long extravaganza of enlightenment and engagement. From Wednesday, March 13th, until Sunday, March 17th, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a series of five thought-provoking conferences, delving into topics ranging from brain health to active aging. Esteemed speakers, including Maria Luisa Princivalli, renowned for her contributions to mathematical analysis, and Chiara Modricky, a distinguished biologist nutritionist, are set to captivate audiences with their insights and expertise.
The cornerstone event, “Aging Well and with Energy,” embodies the spirit of empowerment advocated by the World Health Organization, emphasizing the importance of optimizing health and participation for aging populations. Drawing on a wealth of international research, speakers will illuminate the profound correlation between active aging and holistic well-being, challenging conventional notions of growing older.
As the week unfolds, participants will have the opportunity to engage in brain-boosting activities, including cognitive stimulation exercises and brain training games, designed to sharpen mental acuity and foster lifelong learning. Additionally, personalized consultations will be available, offering invaluable guidance on home care and caregiving from Banfield Association professionals.
The festivities kick off with an official presentation of the structure in Piazza della Borsa on Wednesday, March 13th, followed by a captivating lineup of events culminating in an exploration of immersive reality and traditional brain training methods on Sunday, March 17th. Notably, all events will be streamed live on the Banfield Association’s Facebook page, ensuring accessibility to a global audience.
In a city renowned for its rich cultural tapestry and intellectual vibrancy, the Banfield Association’s pioneering initiative represents a beacon of innovation and inclusivity. By bringing the marvels of brain science to the forefront of public discourse, this Trieste-based endeavor has transcended geographical boundaries, sparking a global conversation on the limitless potential of the human mind.
