In the Sala Giunta, the municipal councilor for Education and Family Policies, Maurizio De Blasio, unveiled to the press the initiatives “Summer Centers” and “Recrestate” organized for the summer of 2024.

Councilor Maurizio De Blasio opened the discussion stating, “Today, we present the summer services for the children and youth of the city, confirming a service in continuity with previous years, with two new additions. The first is the extension of the Recrestate service to the first week of September, of which I am particularly pleased as it is a response to a request received from families. I also note the closure of the Summer Centers and Recrestate during the week of Ferragosto, considering the holiday falls almost in the middle of the week.”

De Blasio emphasized, “It’s important to highlight that the offering doesn’t stop at childcare; the goal of this service we provide to families is to work, albeit in a different context from the school, in a sort of educational and formative continuity, accompanying the youth in their growth. This gives us the opportunity to provide them with leisure and sports, cultural, and artistic activities, all carefully chosen according to age groups; at the same time, I believe these services help concretely steer them away from less virtuous behaviors and habits. I like to remember that healthy growth can also be linked to the concept, which is very dear to me, of conscious citizenship, on which I believe it’s necessary to work from a very young age.”

He continued, “The municipal administration intends to preserve a service that can be defined as excellent but, it must be remembered, it requires a significant effort from the Municipality. All this is possible thanks to the great work of the Department for Education and Family Policies, which I have the honor of representing, the support for these initiatives from all my colleagues in the Council, the staff working in the Recreators and Summer Centers, and all those who contribute and have contributed in the past to the success of these activities.”

De Blasio concluded, “The hope is that we have managed to meet the needs of families and that during this summer journey, children and youth have the opportunity to discover something that could become a passion or their future.”

As per established tradition, the municipal administration proposes a wide and diversified range of summer activities for children and youth, ensuring qualified reception and recreational-educational experiences during the delicate period of closure of educational and school services, with due attention to the needs of families in Trieste.

During the press conference, the programming of the Summer Centers was outlined, targeting younger children aged between 13 and 36 months, children in kindergarten, and older children from 6 to 10 years old, as well as the Recrestate service, the municipal Recreators’ summer service held in the morning.

For the Summer Centers, the opening of six locations of municipal nursery schools (Zuccherofilato, Scarabocchio, San Giusto, Mongolfiera/Lunallegra, Acquerello, and Isola Felice) and seven locations of municipal kindergarten schools (Primi Voli, Tor Cucherna, Pollitzer, Kamillo Kromo, Casetta Incantata, Delfino Blu, and F. Aporti) is planned, as well as the opening of 3 state primary school locations (Morpurgo, Saba, and Filzi Grego). The centers for primary school children will start on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (except for Morpurgo school, which will start on July 1). The Summer Centers for nursery and kindergarten children will open on July 1, 2024. All Summer Centers will end on August 29, 2024, with a suspension of one week from August 12 to 16, 2024.

The Recrestate service, aimed at children and youth from 6 years old and up, will be active in all municipal Recreators, with a weekly schedule divided into five-day shifts, from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, except for the Padovan Recreator where afternoon opening hours from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm will be added. The offer includes a rich and varied program of sports, artistic, and cultural activities, in addition to traditional beach outings and nature excursions, aimed at providing children and youth with an experience of socialization in a recreational dimension, leisure, and free expression. Recrestate will start on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, and end on Friday, September 6, 2024, with a one-week suspension from August 12 to 16, 2024.

This year too, the choices made by the Department for Education and Family Policies confirm the enhancement of the high professionalism of the municipal staff operating in the Recreators, in a service that covers, thanks to its winter and summer organization, the entire calendar year.

For both services, Summer Centers and Recrestate, registrations will open on March 26 and close on April 21, 2024.

Registration applications must be submitted to the Municipality of Trieste exclusively online, through the link available on the website www.triesteducazione.it, with the SPID (Public Digital Identity System), with the CIE (Electronic Identity Card), or with the CNS (National Services Card).

The publication of the final rankings is scheduled by May 9, 2024.

Applications submitted after the deadline of April 21, 2024, will be accepted and added to the final rankings in chronological order of submission, subject to priority indications made by the Social Service of the Municipality of Trieste.
