St. Patrick’s Day festivities, which this year fall on Sunday, 17 March, are set to take over various venues in Trieste’s downtown area, from live music performances to traditional Irish fare and plenty of stout beer, the celebration promises something for everyone, embodying the spirit of Bishop Patrick’s namesake holiday.
In Trieste, the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day will land in various downtown venues. Leading the charge is the lineup set by Bounty on Pondares Street 6, which kicks off its diverse calendar of events tied to its 40th anniversary.
Live music takes center stage again at Bounty on March 17th (8:30 p.m.) with “Camerino Irish,” a band dedicated to the study and original performance practice of Irish tradition, employing ancient instruments such as percussion, gittern (plucked strings), and jewsharp (jaw harp). The menu? Primarily Irish stout beer, the true queen of the celebration.
The Trieste-made St. Patrick’s Day also finds a home at Murphy in Fenice Gallery, embarking on a “green” trilogy on Sunday, March 17th. For the occasion, the venue offers six taps of rotating Irish beers and on Sunday, it kicks off festivities as early as noon, hosting the Wooden Legs concert at 6 p.m., emblematic of the Irish spirit in the city.
At the London Pub on Caprin Street, the celebration ignites from 4 p.m. on March 17th, featuring the trio “Cindy and the Rock History” at 7 p.m.; all wrapped in the colors of Guinness beer and perhaps Irish whiskey. But that’s not all. In the heart of downtown, at 14/a Dante Street, GBU also enters the St. Patrick’s Day mood with Saturday, March 16th’s evening event. Here, Donna Graziella and Master Fabrizio contemplate plenty of music, culinary delights, and pints of Irish beer. Kilts (also worn in Ireland) are welcomed. Let the festivities begin in the name of Bishop Patrick.
