In Trieste, Italy, aspiring science communicators have until March 28 to throw their hats into the ring for FameLab’s local selection event, set to unfold on April 5. But before the deadline looms, a complimentary training session on March 21 awaits all eager participants.

The clock is ticking for potential contenders to secure their spots in FameLab’s local showdown. Until Thursday, March 28, hopefuls can vie for a chance to dazzle audiences in Trieste on April 5, starting at 9:00 am in the esteemed Luttazzi Hall.

Ahead of the deadline, budding contestants can sharpen their skills at a cost-free training session scheduled for March 21. Hosted by FameLab Italia via Zoom from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, this mini-masterclass aims to equip contenders with the tools needed to craft compelling presentations. From dissecting public speaking nuances in both Italian and global research communication realms to crafting succinct narratives, participants will gain invaluable insights to ace the FameLab challenge.

Researchers keen on participating, regardless of prior registration status, can secure their spots by contacting info@immaginarioscientifico.it.

Come April 5, contestants will take the stage, armed solely with their eloquence and a three-minute window to captivate audiences and judges alike with clear, engaging, and accessible scientific insights. No visual aids allowed; just the raw power of communication to win over judges and convey the allure of their research. The prize? A coveted slot in the national competition and a cash award.

Open to contenders from STEM, medical, and humanities domains alike, detailed participation criteria and online registration forms are accessible via www.immaginarioscientifico.it.

The Trieste leg of FameLab is a collaborative effort between Immaginario Scientifico, University of Trieste, University of Udine, SISSA, and the Municipality of Trieste, underscoring the city’s commitment to fostering knowledge exchange. With support from INAF – Astronomical Observatory of Trieste and Trieste Science+Fiction Festival, this event promises to be a celebration of scientific curiosity and creativity.

FameLab Italia spans 12 cities nationwide and is overseen by Psiquadro Perugia, embodying a collective dedication to championing science communication excellence.
