In a testament to the region’s growing prowess in research and innovation, Friuli Venezia Giulia is capturing the attention of global investors, buoyed by its specialized industrial landscape and collaborative public-private partnerships. This morning, Sergio Emidio Bini, the regional councilor overseeing productive activities, lauded the region’s potential during his visit to the Ermes Colussi facility in Casarsa.
Established in 1973, Ermes Colussi stands as a beacon of success, boasting a workforce exceeding 150 individuals and revenues surpassing 51 million euros, with a remarkable 80% derived from exports. Renowned for its sanitation systems catering to diverse industries, including food, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and automotive, the company’s expertise has garnered global recognition.
The recent partnership between Ermes Colussi and the US multinational Middleby Corporation marks a significant milestone. Middleby’s commitment to establishing an Innovation, Research, and Development Center in Casarsa underscores the region’s appeal as a strategic investment destination. This move, the first of its kind outside the United States for Middleby, is poised to cater to European, Asian, and Middle Eastern markets, reflecting the region’s growing significance on the global stage.
With plans encompassing a state-of-the-art facility spanning 5,000 square meters, the Innovation and Research Center will offer clients the opportunity to test cutting-edge machinery across various sectors, including meat processing and bakery. The initiative also includes the recruitment of specialized personnel, emphasizing Friuli Venezia Giulia’s commitment to fostering talent and innovation.
“Favoring Friuli Venezia Giulia over neighboring regions underscores not only the presence of esteemed enterprises and robust infrastructure but also the region’s agility in facilitating private initiatives,” emphasized Bini. He noted that the region’s natural allure and distinctive features further enhance its appeal to international investors, positioning it as an irresistible destination for those seeking to establish their presence in Europe.
Prior to his visit to Ermes Colussi, Bini, accompanied by Casarsa Mayor Claudio Colussi, toured Atis, another local enterprise renowned for its excellence in designing and producing professional kitchens. Bini commended Atis for its commitment to innovation and customer support, citing it as a testament to the region’s industrial vibrancy and resilience.
The tour underscored Friuli Venezia Giulia’s status as a dynamic hub for innovation and investment, poised to shape the future of research and industrial development on the global stage.
