In a concerted effort to maintain public safety during the Easter holidays, authorities in Trieste and its province have taken decisive action against traffic violations. A total of approximately twenty administrative sanctions were issued for infractions of the Highway Code, with specific emphasis placed on offenses such as driving with an expired license and failure to wear a seatbelt, resulting in five citations.
The enforcement efforts involved the identification of one thousand individuals and the inspection of 200 motor vehicles, as well as several tourist buses and around thirty public establishments. These measures were part of a comprehensive strategy orchestrated by both the Police and the Financial Guard, with the deployment of specialized canine units.
The operation, which included units from various branches of the State Police such as postal, railway, road, and border patrols, extended to sensitive areas and locations recently impacted by criminal activities. Collaborative efforts were also made with the Public Security Commissionerates of Duino Aurisina and Muggia.
Pietro Ostuni, the chief of police in Trieste, underscored the continuation of these measures in the coming days, expressing a commitment to not only targeting critical areas but also providing support to citizens during this period of festivities and amidst international tensions. The intensified enforcement was endorsed at the national level by the Minister of the Interior and coordinated locally through a recent meeting on order and security held at the Prefecture in Trieste.
