Springtime in Trieste is unpredictable. Some years it can arrive unexpectedly in early March, days on end of warm sunshine and balmy breezes.

Other years it feels like there will be no end to the rain and bora wind, until by the time you are able to put away the winter coat, it’s already summer.

There may be a very long or a very short window for what we call transitional clothing: light jackets, gauzy scarves, dressing in layers.

I’m originally from California, but I moved here from New York four years ago for work, and also for a change of pace. The biggest difference between Italy and the US is that Italian culture is all about tradition, and preserving heritage, while Americans are all about what is new, and innovative. I look forward to going home, and I also look forward to coming back to Italy.
