As the demand for medical education continues to rise, the University of Trieste has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at easing the path for aspiring medical and dental students. In a bid to support candidates gearing up for the rigorous entrance exams to Medicine and Surgery, as well as Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics programs, the esteemed institution is offering a complimentary preparatory course.

Under the aegis of the Department of Medical, Surgical, and Health Sciences, this innovative program is set to accommodate 350 eager learners. Registration for the course, scheduled to commence on Monday, April 22nd at 3:00 PM, will be conducted online through the UniTS website and social media platforms, with slots filling up on a first-come, first-served basis.

Taking place on May 7th and May 10th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the intensive course will be held at the H3 building within the bustling Piazzale Europa Campus. Led by distinguished faculty members, sessions will delve into key subjects pivotal to the entrance examination, including Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning.

In a bid to foster a supportive learning environment, student tutors from the Medicine and Surgery, as well as Dentistry programs, will be on hand to offer invaluable insights and guidance to aspiring candidates.

The entrance examination itself, spanning a duration of one hundred minutes, will test candidates’ mettle with sixty multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer will be awarded 1.5 points, while incorrect responses will incur a penalty of -0.4 points, with omissions carrying no penalty. The maximum attainable score stands at an impressive 90.

Noteworthy among this year’s updates to the examination process is the return to a traditional paper-based format, offering candidates a familiar setting. Furthermore, candidates will have the opportunity to sit for the exam in two sessions, slated for May 28th and July 30th, concurrently across the nation, enabling flexibility and accessibility.

Amidst ongoing deliberations regarding medical education access, the Ministry of University and Research is poised to implement further reforms, beginning in the academic year 2025-26. Rector Roberto Di Lenarda, representing the Conference of Rectors, underscores the imperative of equipping aspiring healthcare professionals with the requisite tools and support. “Our commitment to excellence in medical education is unwavering,” affirms Di Lenarda, highlighting Trieste’s pioneering move to introduce a qualifying degree in Dentistry.

With an eye toward the future, the University of Trieste remains steadfast in its dedication to nurturing the next generation of healthcare practitioners. As plans for a state-of-the-art educational campus take shape, bolstered by cutting-edge technological resources, the institution stands poised to chart new frontiers in medical education.

In a landscape marked by unprecedented challenges, the University of Trieste emerges as a beacon of hope, paving the way for aspiring medical and dental professionals to realize their dreams and make a meaningful impact in the world of healthcare.
