Trio Festival Returns to Trieste: Celebrating Chamber Music Excellence

The picturesque city of Trieste is set to resonate once again with the harmonious notes of chamber music as the Trio Festival makes its triumphant return. From Friday, April 26th to Sunday, April 28th, music aficionados will gather for a weekend filled with captivating performances by renowned artists from around the globe.

Celebrating its rich tradition as a global hub for chamber music, Trieste will host the 22nd edition of the International Trio Prize of Trieste Competition from September 7th to 11th. But before the main event, the city will come alive with a preview in Ljubljana, Slovenia, underscoring the festival’s international flavor.

The festival’s lineup boasts an impressive array of talent, featuring internationally acclaimed ensembles and soloists. Among them is the Trio Orelon, a German-based ensemble, renowned for its dynamic interpretations. Winners of the Melbourne Competition 2023 and the Trio Prize of Trieste, Trio Orelon will kick off the festival on Friday, April 26th, at the historic Sala Luttazzi with a tribute to Antonin Dvořák’s Bohemian heritage.

Following their performance, Malaysian pianist Magdalene Ho takes the stage on Saturday, April 27th, presenting a captivating program of works by Brahms and Schumann. Ho, a rising star in the classical music scene, brings her prodigious talent to the forefront, captivating audiences with her virtuosity and emotional depth.

Rounding out the festival on Sunday, April 28th, is the Indaco String Quartet, Italy’s own musical gem. Fresh from their triumph at the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, the quartet will transport audiences with a selection of works inspired by the vibrant landscapes of Spain and France.

As the festival draws to a close, Trieste reaffirms its position as a beacon of artistic excellence, attracting musicians and music lovers from far and wide. With its enchanting venues and stellar lineup, the Trio Festival promises an unforgettable weekend of musical brilliance, celebrating the timeless allure of chamber music in the heart of Italy.
