The second week of the MAREinFVG festival will conclude with a celebration of maritime history, evoking the grandeur of the ships that will have once traversed the world’s oceans.

On Saturday, May 18, at 11:00 a.m., the Maritime Museum of Trieste will open its doors for a special guided tour tailored to young visitors. “Discovering the Maritime Museum,” designed for children aged 8 to 12, will offer an engaging glimpse into the maritime world. The museum curator will narrate the history and activities that define this captivating and seemingly remote realm. Admission will be free, with reservations available via email.

Simultaneously, the event “Open Doors at the Aldebaran” will take place over the weekend, showcasing the illustrious collection of historical ship and boat models held by the Aldebaran Maritime Association. Located at Molo Fratelli Bandiera 17/D in Trieste, the association will host free guided tours on both Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. These tours will highlight the ships constructed in Monfalcone, Muggia, and Trieste, drawing enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

These events will be part of the third edition of MAREinFVG, a festival dedicated to the sea and its community, conceptualized by mareFVG, the Maritime Technology Cluster FVG. This organization serves as the regional hub for maritime technologies. The festival will enjoy the support of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in collaboration with PromoturismoFVG, the Municipality of Trieste, and the Maritime Directorate of Trieste, which includes the Port Authority and Coast Guard. It will also benefit from the sponsorship of the Chamber of Commerce of Venezia Giulia, the Municipalities of Muggia and Monfalcone, and the support of numerous regional stakeholders engaged in maritime activities.

MAREinFVG will stand as a testament to the region’s rich nautical heritage and its ongoing relationship with the sea, offering a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and community engagement.
