As regional policymakers grapple with demographic shifts, skills mismatches, and wage disparities, corporate initiatives are emerging as critical allies in enhancing local economies. In a presentation today in Udine, the Regional Labor Councilor emphasized the significance of company-led efforts in creating attractive and sustainable regions, spotlighting the exemplary work of the Pittini Group.
Renowned for its production of sustainable long steels for the construction and mechanical industries, the Pittini Group stands as a beacon of corporate responsibility and workforce development. With volumes exceeding 3 million tons annually and a workforce of over 2,000 employees across 21 locations in Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, Pittini is not just a leader in its field but also a pivotal player in regional economic vitality.
On June 20, the company will host a Recruiting Day at its Rivoli di Osoppo headquarters, seeking to fill 80 positions in technical, production, and logistics roles for its Ferriere Nord, Siat, and Pittac facilities located between the municipalities of Osoppo and Gemona del Friuli. This event marks the culmination of a series of recruiting initiatives endorsed by the regional government in the first half of 2024.
During the presentation, the Councilor highlighted recent employment data from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, noting a marked increase in hirings in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Notably, there has been a significant uptick in employment among women under 30 and in the metallurgy sector. These trends, the Councilor asserted, underscore the ongoing efforts of the regional administration to support businesses through targeted training, safety programs, and proactive recruitment strategies.
The Pittini Group’s commitment to continuous employee development is exemplified by its Pittini Training Workshop. One of the first corporate schools in Italy, this initiative provides nearly 50,000 hours of training annually, underscoring the company’s dedication to lifelong learning and skill enhancement.

This event will be the twentieth and final Recruiting Day organized by the region in the first half of 2024, an initiative that has engaged 132 companies and offered 1,885 job positions. To date, 3,577 applications have been received for the 16 events held this year, with over 2,500 candidates selected for interviews.
Looking ahead, the regional administration has already scheduled an additional 15 Recruiting Days for the second half of 2024, reflecting a sustained commitment to bridging the gap between job seekers and employers in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
As the labor market continues to evolve, the synergy between corporate responsibility and regional policy will play a crucial role in shaping a resilient and prosperous future for the area. The Pittini Group’s proactive approach provides a model for other companies and regions aiming to foster economic growth and stability through strategic workforce development and community engagement.
