People-watching doesn’t get much better than on a summer evening in Trieste, and there’s no shortage of locations to do it.

But one couldn’t do much better than any central bar, midway between two of the city’s busiest squares, Piazza della Borsa and Piazza Unita.

Grab a high-top table on the outside to have a prime view of the constant promenade of people returning from their shopping or on their way out for an aperitivo or dinner.

What we really enjoyed on a Saturday in June was the fashion parade, of course.

Apart from being a quite fashionable destination itself, we were treated to an open view in every direction of Triestini and visitors in their most exuberant, colorful summer attire.

We found between 7:00 and 8:00 to be the magic hour for the best people-watching, but we promise you won’t be disappointed at any time of day.
