As the European Elections approach, the municipal administration of Trieste is issuing a call to action. With the polling day set for Saturday, June 8th, and Sunday, June 9th, 2024, the city is seeking Polling Station Presidents to ensure a smooth democratic process.
According to Article 35 of Consolidated Law no. 361/1957 and its subsequent amendments, the municipal administration is responsible for appointing replacements for any absent Polling Station Presidents. The establishment of polling stations is slated for 9:00 am on Saturday, June 8th, leaving little time for vacancies.
Who’s eligible for this crucial role? Prospective candidates must possess a high school diploma and be under the age of 70. Experience in electoral matters, including prior service as a polling station president or involvement with the Section Electoral Office, is highly desirable.
Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their applications via email to elettorale@comune.trieste.it, along with a copy of their identification. Applications will be promptly reviewed, and a supplementary list of candidates will be compiled.
Flexibility is key for potential appointees. They must be ready to serve at the designated location and time indicated by the electoral office, and to promptly identify the polling station secretary upon appointment.
With the deadline for appointments set at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 8th, candidates must ensure their availability to receive phone calls and commence their duties within 45 minutes of notification. Failure to respond to calls may result in the office reaching out to alternative nominees.
In return for their service, Polling Station Presidents can expect compensation of €138, as determined by the Ministry of the Interior.
