Starting Sunday, June 9th, the summer bus schedules will come into effect in Trieste, marking several notable changes and improvements for commuters and travelers. This year, however, the rollout has encountered some delays, prompting an apology from the local transportation authorities.

The new schedules are available for consultation through the TplFvg travel planner, accessible by entering the origin and destination of the trip, similar to train schedules. For those who prefer traditional formats, the schedules can be viewed and downloaded in PDF format from the Trieste Trasporti website and Tpl Fvg’s official site.

“We apologize for the delay in publishing the schedules this year,” said a spokesperson for TplFvg. “Some schedules are in the usual format, while others differ slightly. We are working to standardize the PDFs in the coming days, but all information is currently complete. We ask for the public’s assistance in reporting any errors or inconsistencies.”

Key Changes in the Summer Schedule

The updated summer schedule introduces several key changes aimed at enhancing the commuting experience:

  • Line 9 Extension: Trips departing from Piazzale Gioberti and heading to Largo Irneri, between 7:30 AM and 7:30 PM, will now extend to Riva Traiana, serving the Ausonia beach establishment.
  • Line 36 Restoration: Daily connections between Via Giulia and the Miramare junction are reinstated, providing a vital link for many travelers.
  • Suspension of School Lines: Lines 55, 56, and 57, traditionally dedicated to school transportation, will be suspended until September.
  • Line 70 Weekend Service: Service is reinstated on weekends between Visogliano station and Sistiana mare, with 21 daily departures from each terminus.
  • Line 20 Extension: The route of line 20 is extended to Barcola at Piazzale 11 Settembre, passing along the Porto Vivo-Porto Vecchio link. Authorities encourage the public to explore this scenic route.
  • Night Service Adjustments: The night service on demand will be suspended on Wednesdays and remain active only on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Attention to Line 24 Travelers

A special note has been issued for travelers on line 24. For the time being, this line will continue to operate along Via San Michele in both directions. Departure times from both termini are available online. However, the authorities caution against relying on the Tpl Fvg travel planner, the Tpl Fvg app, or external sites like Google or Moovit for this line, as they currently display incorrect schedules and routes.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we work through these updates,” the spokesperson added. “Please report any issues you encounter, so we can address them promptly.”

As Trieste prepares for the summer season, these changes aim to improve the overall transit experience, despite the initial delays. The authorities remain committed to ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and accessible to the public.
