In anticipation of the much-awaited “Bloomsday 2024” celebration, the city of Trieste has announced temporary traffic restrictions and other measures to ensure smooth proceedings on Sunday, June 16th.
Under the directive of Temporary Traffic Order number 590-24 issued on June 6th, 2024, a series of regulations will be enforced to manage vehicular movement within the vicinity bounded by Via Genova, Pondares, and Sant’Apollinare.
Beginning at 10:00 AM and extending until 4:00 PM, parking and stopping will be strictly prohibited along a 90-meter segment of Via Genova, spanning from its junction with Via Roma to Via Cassa di Risparmio. This measure aims to alleviate congestion in the area during the event.
From noon until 3:00 PM, a transit ban will be imposed on Via Genova, covering approximately 200 meters between Via Roma and Riva Tre Novembre. However, exceptions will be made for vehicles displaying authorized permits destined for designated parking zones nearby.
Throughout the afternoon until midnight, further restrictions will be in place. Sections of Via Pondares and Via Sant’Apollinare will witness a crackdown on illegal parking, with vehicles facing removal if parked outside designated areas.
In the evening, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Via Pondares will experience a complete halt in traffic flow over a 140-meter stretch, offering pedestrians ample space to navigate safely. However, exceptions will be granted to property owners accessing their respective premises.
Moreover, motorists entering Via Della Madonnina from Via Pondares will be required to come to a complete stop and yield to oncoming traffic, ensuring a smooth transition onto the thoroughfare.
These measures underscore the city’s commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the Bloomsday festivities. Law enforcement and local authorities will be on-site to enforce these regulations, and any violators risk having their vehicles towed away.
