At a press conference held today at the iconic Eppinger Caffè, local dignitaries unveiled the ambitious program, which spans across Piazza Ponterosso, Via Bellini, Via Cassa di Risparmio, and other picturesque locales. Among the dignitaries present were Serena Tonel, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Economic Policies, and a constellation of cultural luminaries including Manuela Declich, president of the Fifth Council Committee.
“Trieste Crossroads of Cultures” is a collaborative effort between the Municipality of Trieste, Altamarea Eventi, Mittelnet Travel Agency, and media partners Radio Punto Zero and Trieste Cafè. Its aim is to foster understanding and appreciation for the city’s diverse communities, with guided tours, folk dances, gastronomic delights, and an eclectic market showcasing the wares of various ethnic and religious groups.
Central to the festivities is the revival of Trieste’s mercantile past along the Canal Grande, where vendors will peddle an array of goods amidst the echoes of ancient trade routes. Culinary enthusiasts can savor delicacies from around the world, available from 9:30 am to 11:30 pm daily, free of charge.
This year’s edition introduces exciting new experiences, including a visit to the historic Rosenfeld Sponge Factory in nearby Muggia and a musical showcase by the Civic Wind Orchestra “G. Verdi” – City of Trieste. Additionally, guided tours will offer insights into the architectural marvels of Borgo Giuseppino and Borgo Franceschino, as well as Trieste’s venerable places of worship and cultural institutions.
For those eager to explore beyond the city’s confines, a journey to the verdant splendor of Villa Revoltella awaits, alongside immersive experiences at the Porto Vecchio and the renowned Centrale Idrodinamica.
