The University of Trieste has solidified its status as a distinctly international and professional institution, drawing students from far and wide with its promise of superior post-graduation prospects. According to the 2024 Almalaurea report, which analyzed approximately 300,000 graduates from 78 universities across Italy, Trieste’s university stands out as the most dynamic and attractive in the region, providing graduates with above-average salaries and exceptional employment rates.

In a competitive job market, Trieste’s alumni hold a significant advantage. The report highlights that over 91.1% of the university’s master’s graduates secure employment within five years of graduation, a notable increase from the previous year and well above the national average of 88.2%. Similarly, 81.3% find jobs within a year of completing their studies, compared to 75.7% nationwide. For bachelor’s graduates, the numbers are equally impressive, with 77.2% employed within a year, outpacing both the national average of 74.1% and the regional average of 79%.

The financial rewards for Trieste graduates are equally compelling. Bachelor’s degree holders earn an average monthly salary of €1,437, while master’s graduates see their earnings rise to €1,513 one year post-graduation, increasing to €1,826 after five years. These figures surpass both local and national salary averages, underscoring the university’s role in fostering economic mobility.

The University of Trieste also attracts a diverse student body, with 41.5% of graduates coming from outside the region, significantly higher than the regional average of 34.1% and the national average of 24.8%. The university’s international appeal is further highlighted by the 4.5% of students hailing from abroad, compared to the regional figure of 3.6%. Particularly noteworthy is the enrollment of foreign bachelor’s students, which stands at 3.9%, exceeding the Italian average of 3.2%.

Beyond geographical diversity, Trieste’s commitment to global education is evident in its study abroad programs. More than 12.2% of bachelor’s graduates participate in international study experiences, a marked increase from the previous year and well above regional and national averages. Overall, 11.9% of graduates have study abroad experiences recognized by their courses, reflecting a robust internationalization of the academic experience.

This global perspective translates into a strong endorsement of the degree’s value in the job market. Over 66% of bachelor’s graduates rate their degree as “effective” in their field, surpassing both regional and national averages. For master’s graduates, this figure climbs to over 73% one year after graduation, again exceeding national and regional benchmarks.

Trieste’s educational model is not only internationally oriented but also deeply professional. The report notes that 76.6% of master’s graduates, up 2.2% from the previous year, have engaged in substantial curricular internships. This hands-on approach extends to nearly 60.2% of single-cycle graduates, facilitated by the university’s extensive internship offerings.

Student satisfaction with the University of Trieste is notably high. Over 87.7% of students express satisfaction with their overall university experience, praising the supportive relationship with faculty, manageable study load, and the quality of available infrastructure.

In an era where higher education institutions vie for global recognition and local relevance, the University of Trieste stands out, not just for its academic excellence but also for its commitment to equipping students with the skills and experiences needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
