On a bright Saturday morning, the scenic Piazza Unità buzzed with excitement as Elisa Lodi, the Councilor for Real Estate and Sports Policies, officially saw off Mauro Guenci, a celebrated champion of the Asd Team Roller Senigallia. Guenci’s departure marks the commencement of “Adriatic Cycle On Skates. Ride, Skate with Mauro for a Sea of Solidarity,” a charitable project promising to bring together communities along the Adriatic coast.

In a show of support, members of the Asd Roller Evolution were present, adding to the festive atmosphere. Councillor Lodi expressed the local administration’s enthusiasm, stating, “I bring greetings from the Municipal Administration at the start of this true challenge along the Adriatic coast. I am also open to considering the proposal made this morning to host an event in Trieste with Santa Clauses on rollers in December. These events exemplify the vibrant sporting culture that animates our city.”

Guenci’s accolades in the world of skating are numerous, with a collection of international and world awards to his name, and an audience with the Holy Father as one of his career highlights. His latest endeavor, beginning today from Trieste, will see him traverse 1,300 kilometers over 13 days along the Adriatic Cycle Route, one of Europe’s most extensive cycling paths. His journey aims to conclude in Santa Maria di Leuca, the southernmost point of Puglia, on June 28.

Participants are invited to join Guenci on skates or bicycles by purchasing the initiative’s official T-shirt for 10 euros, with all proceeds directed towards charitable causes. This inclusive approach aims to foster a sense of community and collective effort in the spirit of solidarity.

The challenge ahead is formidable, but the support from local communities and the prospect of raising funds for charity underscore the significant impact of Guenci’s journey. As he sets off, the anticipation is palpable, marking another milestone in his illustrious career and a notable event in the region’s calendar of sporting activities.
