This summer, the storied Teatro Rossetti will host an unprecedented gathering of musical theater talent. From July 29 to August 4, “The Academy,” an intensive seven-day course for aspiring musical performers, will be helmed by West End luminaries Ramin Karimloo and Earl Carpenter.
The duo, renowned for their standout performances on stages from London’s West End to Broadway, conceived “The Academy” following their acclaimed performances in “The Phantom of the Opera” at Rossetti last July. Their vision: to transform Rossetti into a hub for high-caliber musical theater training.
“The Academy” promises a rigorous immersion into the world of musical theater, adhering to the elite standards of top-tier British institutions. It offers a unique opportunity for artists over 18 years old to hone their craft under the tutelage of some of the industry’s finest. Prospective students must submit their resumes to greta.petronio@ilrossetti.it by June 30 for consideration. Selected candidates will then be contacted with further details.
This initiative aims to elevate the skills of its participants through a comprehensive program encompassing acting, dance, music, and vocal training. Esteemed instructors, many with roots in institutions such as ArtsEd, LAMDA, GSA, and Mountview, will lead the sessions. Among the distinguished faculty are Rohan Tickell, Christopher Guard, Jaye Elster, Annette McLaughlin, Olivia Brereton, Giorgia Romero, and Michela Agius. Each brings a wealth of experience from the West End and beyond, ensuring a top-notch educational experience.
Due to his current commitments on Broadway with the musical “Titanic” at the City Center and filming a series for Apple TV+, Karimloo will participate remotely during the initial phase of the course. However, he will join Carpenter in person for the final masterclass, scheduled at Rossetti on January 18 and 19, 2025. This culminating event will be a highlight, offering participants direct insights and guidance from two of the theater world’s most revered figures.
“The Academy” is set to be a transformative experience, providing a rare and invaluable bridge to the vibrant and competitive world of London’s musical theater. With this initiative, Teatro Rossetti continues to cement its reputation as a center for artistic excellence and innovation, fostering the next generation of musical theater stars.
