A resolution is expected by the end of this week to resume service along the Trieste-Grado maritime route, which has been temporarily halted.

This announcement came from Cristina Amirante, the Regional Infrastructure Councillor, following a pivotal meeting on Monday in Pordenone. The gathering brought together key stakeholders, including Bruno Pascoli, president of Tpl Fvg, Caterina Belletti, president of Apt Gorizia, Luca Di Benedetto, general director of Apt Gorizia, and Diego Regazzo, CEO of Arriva. The discussion aimed to assess the current status of the inactive line and explore viable solutions to restore its operation promptly.

“The breakdown of the motor vessel Audace last Wednesday has left the Trieste-Grado route without service,” Ms. Amirante said. “Today’s meeting was essential to determine alternative measures to restore the line, especially during this peak usage period.”

Ms. Amirante emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that the summer season sees the highest demand for this route. “We convened the stakeholders to ensure that within 24 hours, a range of possible alternatives would be laid out, allowing us to identify the most effective solution,” she said. “Our goal is to reorganize the operations of other maritime lines currently in service without compromising their functionality. We are confident that by the end of the week, a solution to the current problem will be in place.”

The Trieste-Grado route is a vital link, particularly during the summer months, and the interruption has affected numerous passengers and operations. The stakeholders’ commitment to finding a swift and effective resolution underscores the importance of this maritime service to the region.
