The inaugural YounG7 for Education, an initiative dedicated to fostering youth education, commenced in Lignano Sabbiadoro with an opening ceremony that drew international participants. This event, organized within the framework of the G7 Education summit, brings together representatives from 80 schools worldwide, involving over 350 students and 70 teachers.
Governor Massimiliano Fedriga welcomed the attendees and expressed gratitude to Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara for selecting Friuli Venezia Giulia as the host region. Fedriga highlighted the importance of the topics to be explored, emphasizing the value of human capital in a rapidly changing world.
YounG7 includes delegations from G7 countries—Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States—along with invited representatives from Ukraine, Brazil, and the African Union. This diverse participation underscores the event’s global significance and commitment to international collaboration.
The opening ceremony, held at Piazza Marcello D’Olivo, featured remarks from dignitaries including Undersecretary Paola Frassinetti, Regional Council President Mauro Bordin, and Lignano Sabbiadoro Mayor Laura Giorgi. Governor Fedriga spoke about the importance of preserving democratic values and the role of education in this effort.
YounG7’s agenda includes a variety of educational activities and workshops. Participants will engage in sessions covering topics such as artificial intelligence, STEM subjects, arts, cooking, music, and sports. The program also highlights the cultural heritage and traditions of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The event will conclude with a closing ceremony on Saturday, June 29, at the Arena Alpe Adria in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
