The much-anticipated 25th edition of the ShorTS International Film Festival is set to commence tomorrow, promising a spectacular lineup of cinematic treasures from June 28 to July 6, 2024. The festival will open with a poignant ceremony honoring animator Simone Massi with the prestigious Cinema of the Soul Prize.

The event, scheduled amidst the serene backdrop of Trieste’s Public Garden, will begin with an enlightening masterclass by Massi himself. Attendees will be treated to a showcase of his acclaimed works including Tengo la posizione (2001), Io so chi sono (2004), and Dell’ammazzare il maiale (2011) — short films that epitomize his distinctive dramatic and expressive animation style.

Highlighting the evening will be the eagerly anticipated screening of Invelle (2023), the maiden feature film by the esteemed Marche-born director. Notably premiered at Venice Film Festival’s Horizons section last year, the film captivated audiences with its compelling narrative and is set for a wider release in the months ahead, courtesy of Lucky Red.

The ShorTS International Film Festival continues to captivate cinephiles and industry insiders alike, reaffirming its status as a premier platform for cutting-edge cinema and artistic innovation. As the festival unfolds over the coming days, attendees can expect a rich tapestry of films, discussions, and celebrations of cinematic excellence in the picturesque setting of Trieste.
