On Sunday, June 30, 2024, the third day of the ShorTS International Film Festival (ShorTS IFF) promises to deliver a dynamic blend of innovative cinema and emerging talent.
The day’s events commence at 5:00 PM in the Xenia Hall, where the ShorTS Immersive competition section will unveil seven pioneering works. These include three productions utilizing Six Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) technology and four in Cinematic Virtual Reality (VR). Festival-goers will have the opportunity to engage with these narratives through specialized headsets, providing a transformative experience that redefines spatial storytelling. Reservations for this unique event can be made at maremetraggio.com.
As the evening progresses, the spotlight shifts to Teatro Miela at 7:00 PM for a masterclass and the prestigious Prospettiva Prize ceremony. This year, the award, which honors a promising new voice in Italian cinema, will be bestowed upon Carlotta Gamba. Gamba, an actress celebrated for her early yet impactful career, has demonstrated a remarkable ability to navigate the complexities of her characters. Her impressive portfolio includes roles in “America Latina,” “Amusia,” “Dante,” and the recent “Gloria!”—the latter of which will be screened post-ceremony. Gamba’s performance in the acclaimed series “Dostoevskij” further underscores her rising status in the film industry.
The day culminates at 9:15 PM in the serene setting of the Public Garden, where the first segment of the Maremetraggio section will be showcased. This revered segment of the festival offers a broad and eclectic view of the vibrant world of short films, celebrating the diversity and dynamism inherent in this cinematic form.
