The Municipality of Trieste has announced an updated procedure for collecting applications for financial aid aimed at covering veterinary expenses. This initiative seeks to support the medical and pharmaceutical needs of pets for residents of Trieste and neighboring municipalities, including Muggia, San Dorligo della Valle, Duino Aurisina, Sgonico, and Monrupino.

Eligibility Criteria and Funding

Funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the program is open to individuals meeting specific criteria. Applicants must be citizens of Italy or an EU member state or possess a valid residence permit from another country.

For Residents Over 65:

  • Applicants must reside in one of the former municipalities of the Trieste province and be over 65 years of age with an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) of less than €25,000.
  • Covered expenses include specialist visits, surgeries, laboratory tests, and medications incurred in the current or previous year, including chipping costs for registered pets.
  • The program covers 100% of verified expenses, with a minimum of €50 and a maximum of €300 per applicant.

For Residents Under 65:

  • Applicants must reside in one of the former municipalities of the Trieste province and be under 65 years of age with an ISEE of less than €12,000.
  • Covered expenses are similar to those for older residents, with the addition that individual services are covered up to €100 each, for a maximum of three services per pet.
  • The program covers 100% of verified expenses, with a minimum of €50.

Application Process

Residents can download application forms from the websites of the Trieste and Muggia municipalities. Paper forms are also available at various municipal offices in Trieste, Muggia, and Duino Aurisina.

Bi-Monthly Rankings

A bi-monthly ranking of eligible applicants will be prepared based on available resources. Grants will be disbursed accordingly.
