As Pope Francis plans his visit to Trieste on Sunday, July 7th, another significant event is set to unfold at the Muzio De Tommasini Public Garden: the eagerly anticipated Pupkin Kabarett show, titled “Nightmare of an Early Summer Night.”
The peculiar timing has sparked intrigue, with rumors suggesting the Pope himself might endeavor to catch a glimpse of the performance. Sources close to the Vatican claim that the Pontiff, having learned of the simultaneous event, may adjust his schedule to accommodate this cultural highlight.
Preparations for the evening are extensive. Security measures, typically overseen by local police, will be bolstered to the highest levels, including undercover officers camouflaged as statues of esteemed Trieste writers and poets. Drones, affectionately known as “cocal,” are scheduled to patrol the area, ensuring utmost safety amidst the anticipated fanfare.
Among the evening’s highlights is an exclusive interview segment, “Between Serious and Facetious,” featuring acclaimed director Erika Rossi. The lineup includes performances by Laura Bussani, Alessandro Mizzi, Luca Bressan, Alessio Marzolino, Omar Giorgio Makhloufi, Dario Formica, Erin McKinney, and the renowned “La Niente band,” accompanied by Italo-American vocalist Jack Calcagno.
In collaboration with Gorizia’s tourism promotion, special transport services will operate, facilitating travel from Trieste to Grado, enhancing accessibility for attendees.
Tickets for the event are priced at €12.00, with a special offer available for admission to both the July 7th and 29th shows at €20.00. Interested patrons can secure their tickets at the Public Garden’s on-site ticket office or via the theater’s dedicated hotline (tel. 0403477672), operational Monday through Friday from 17:00 to 19:00.
