A significant addition to Trieste’s sports community was introduced this week as the Panathlon Club Trieste Muggia Junior was officially launched in the Blue Lounge of the Trieste Municipality. This new youth-focused branch of the Panathlon Club Trieste Muggia aims to engage young athletes from Trieste and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.

Founded in December 2023, the Panathlon Club Trieste Muggia Junior has already been recognized by Panathlon International. The club, with an average member age of 22, seeks to promote the ethical values of sportsmanship among young athletes.

Matilda Tommasi, president of the Panathlon Club Trieste Muggia Junior, and Emiliano Edera, president of the parent club, outlined their mission to foster values such as loyalty, fair play, and solidarity through sports. The goal is to create an environment that supports the development of responsible and ethical citizens.

The establishment of the junior club is seen as a continuation of the Panathlon Club Trieste Muggia’s legacy, aiming to bridge generations through shared sports values. The city of Trieste is currently undergoing significant urban renewal, including the Porto Vecchio – Porto Vivo project, which will feature a Public Park and a Sports Citadel. The launch of the Panathlon Club Trieste Muggia Junior aligns with the city’s commitment to integrating sports into its developmental plans.

The junior club also focuses on maintaining sports participation among young athletes, addressing the challenge of dropout rates. “In our sports organizations, children and young people find friends, social life, and a healthy lifestyle; they face sacrifices and learn principles that will accompany them throughout their lives,” Tommasi explained.

The Panathlon Club Trieste Muggia Junior aims to become a central part of the community through a structured program of events, training sessions, and sports activities. Its collaboration with the senior club ensures adherence to high ethical standards and established guidelines.
