This morning, Councilor for Education and Family Policies Maurizio De Blasio introduced the 2024 edition of the PGTSummer festival to the press. Now in its third year, the festival, organized by Polo Giovani Toti, features a diverse program of events.
Councillor De Blasio described the festival’s new format, which will include a variety of activities beyond its traditional musical offerings. “This year, the third edition of PGTSummer will be conducted in a new manner, featuring not only musical events but also diverse activities. It is a way to provide the city with a place for gathering, discussion, and growth. This festival is dedicated to young people but is open to everyone,” De Blasio stated.
The Councillor emphasized the festival’s role in offering safe and well-equipped spaces for youth activities, describing it as both a conclusion to recent projects at Polo Giovani Toti and a preparation for future initiatives. De Blasio also reflected on the broader implications of the festival, highlighting the importance of connecting institutions with young people to foster participation, which he deemed essential for individual and collective growth and civic progress.
The festival will feature events primarily led by youth groups accredited to the Polo Giovani Toti. These will include musical, theatrical, sports, artistic, and dance performances, spanning from July 11 to September 5. On September 4, a musical evening will take place at the Sartorio Museum as part of the Trieste Estate 2024 program.
De Blasio also took a moment to thank the PAG – Progetto Area Giovani staff for their dedication and the Local Police for their support during the festival events. The initiative, he noted, responds to the need for public, free, and safe spaces where young people can socialize and enjoy themselves.
The festival events will mainly be held in the outdoor area of the Polo Giovani/Youth Center Toti, with an alternative indoor location in case of bad weather. Admission to all events is free and open to the public until capacity is reached.
