Cameron Mackintosh’s ‘Les Misérables’ Set to Dazzle Italy with Spectacular Arena Tour

Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed production, Les Misérables The Arena Musical Spectacular, is set to make its Italian debut this fall, marking a milestone in its global tour. The tour will kick off at Trieste’s historic Politeama Rossetti from November 7 to 11, 2024, followed by a stint at Milan’s TAM Teatro Arcimboldi from November 14 to 24, 2024.

Featuring a star-studded cast of international talent, the production promises to captivate audiences with its grandeur and musical prowess. Joining the previously announced leads, Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean and Bradley Jaden as Javert, are renowned performers including Bonnie Langford, Gavin Lee, Jac Yarrow, Beatrice Penny-Touré, Channah Hewitt, James D. Gish, and Jeremy Secomb.

Les Misérables, hailed as the world’s longest-running musical, will celebrate its 40th anniversary with this spectacular rendition tailored for arenas and grand theaters. This adaptation, known for its iconic score featuring classics like “I Dreamed a Dream” and “On My Own,” has resonated across 53 countries and 439 cities globally.

Bonnie Langford, celebrated for her West End performances in “Old Friends” and roles in “Cats” and “Chicago,” joins the cast as Madame Thénardier. Gavin Lee, known for his roles in “Mary Poppins” and “The Spongebob Musical,” takes on the role of Thénardier. Jac Yarrow, fresh from his Olivier-nominated turn in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” portrays Marius, while Beatrice Penny-Touré, recognized for her roles in “The Book of Mormon” and “Mary Poppins,” assumes the role of Cosette.

Channah Hewitt, acclaimed for her performances in “The Lion King” and “Tina The Tina Turner Musical,” steps into the role of Fantine, alongside James D. Gish, making his European debut after performances in “Wicked” and “Beautiful” on Broadway. Jeremy Secomb, known for his roles in “Sweeney Todd” and “The Phantom of the Opera,” rounds out the ensemble as the Bishop of Digne.

The production, which expands on the success of Les Misérables The Staged Concert, promises a visual feast with its integrated video design, original costumes, and a live orchestra supporting a company of over 110 members.

Les Misérables The Arena Musical Spectacular will commence its world tour in Belfast in September 2024, coinciding with the musical’s 40th anniversary celebrations in London’s West End.
