As the sun dips below the horizon, casting its golden glow over the tranquil waters of Porticciolo di Miramare, a unique celebration of love will unfold. From July 20 to 24, at 8 PM, the scenic port will host “Love Discourses,” a captivating event designed to immerse audiences in the timeless beauty of romantic literature.
Presented by “Il Rossetti a Miramare,” this enchanting performance promises a journey through some of the most exquisite words of love ever penned. The event will feature heartfelt readings from some of history’s most passionate and poignant love letters, bringing to life the emotions and longings of their illustrious authors.
The evening’s inspiration begins with the tender and nostalgic letters written by Archduke Maximilian to his beloved wife Charlotte during his travels. These touching epistles, rich with delicate sentiment, will be performed by the renowned actress Stefania Rocca and a distinguished male voice, accompanied by evocative live music.
The audience will be treated to a selection of love letters that span centuries, from the fervent romanticism of the nineteenth century to the early twentieth century’s heartfelt correspondences. The highlight of the evening will be a unique and deeply moving exchange of letters between the Russian poetess Marina Tsvetaeva and the acclaimed poet Rainer Maria Rilke, a correspondence suffused with idealism and yearning.
Under the starlit sky of Miramare, other literary luminaries and their profound expressions of love will resonate, carried by the gentle sound of the waves, creating an atmosphere of unparalleled charm and intimacy.
Adding a personal touch to these magical evenings, audience members are invited to submit their own love writings or favorite romantic poems. Selected entries will be recited during the performance, allowing attendees to share in the collective celebration of love. Submissions should be sent to ilaria.lucari@ilrossetti.it by July 10, with an indication of the preferred performance date. Each evening, one or two audience texts will be chosen to be featured.
Tickets for this extraordinary event are priced at €20 for general admission and €17 for reduced admission. Each performance promises to be an unforgettable experience, a poignant reminder of the enduring power of love expressed through words.
